That's odd... I'm sure that I've heard you complain about useless longevity in HOF discussions.

Yet here you are, celebrating some useless longevity.

Gehrig - Career OPS+: 179
Career 200+ hit seasons: 8
Jeter - Career OPS+: 121
Career 200+ hit seasons: 6

I'd take Gehrig's hits over Jeter's, even if they do end up being fewer.

Greatest Yankee ever?

Why is this history? Do you know who has the record for most hits as a Giant? A Diamondback?Holding a record for a franchise is useless. I would guess that Jeter probably also holds the career record for errors as a Yankee, and most GIDP. And, even if he doesn't own them yet, he will soon.

I agree.

Jeter is also

2nd in career strikeouts - ~290 behind Mantle
2nd in GIDP - 13 behind Bernie Williams

and LEADS ALL YANKEES in "Outs Made" (as a hitter)

Useless longevity.

Why is this history? Do you know who has the record for most hits as a Giant? A Diamondback?Does anyone know? Does anyone care? No, of course not. Giants/Diamondbacks are but specks on the baseball world. The Yankees are baseball.

Would you kindly leave my speck of a team out of your man-lovin' discussion of Derek Jeter? Thanks in advance.

You mean the re-named Baltimore Orioles?

Hey - if a McDonalds closes in Baltimore, and one opens in New York, and McDonalds Coporate says it's the same franchise, just moved... is it?

1903 McDonalds or 2009 McDonalds Corporate?Because 1903 McD Corp was a disorganized mess. John McGraw picked them up, threw 'em in his mouth, chewed on them for a minute and then spit them on the ground. John McGraw >>>>>>>>> 1902 McD Corporate

Congrats to Jeter for tying Gehrig for the most hits, in Baltimore Orioles franchise history.
